Later Life Summer Fair 2023
Friday 14th July saw our now annual ‘Later Life Summer Fair’ take place at Newman Hall in Henleaze. Despite the torrential rain, we were thrilled to welcome so many people to the event!
The event was planned with partners: Age UK Bristol, Alive Activities, Bristol Dementia Action Alliance (BDAA), Bristol u3a, Home Instead, Southmead Development Trust and St Peter’s Henleaze. We had been working together for some time to pull the event together.
We were also fortunate to have volunteers from the local community and an unbelievable team of helpers from SKY, whose charity of the year is currently Age UK. The event wouldn’t have been a success without them so thank you so much!
Although we had planned for some stalls and entertainment to be outside, the weather on the day had other ideas!
A broad spectrum of acts took to the stage, from the E-ACT Academy school choir to the dazzling Shynee Ladies, Southmead Community Singers to line dancers – they kept the crowds entertained all afternoon!
A quiet room to the side of the hall saw shared reading sessions take place, as well as a taster session of Tai Chi. The eclectic mix of stalls offered lots of local produce and gifts and there was also a raffle and tombola which was busy for the duration.
The Harold Stephens team braved the elements with our outdoor stall, our gazebo fairing much better than our neighbours, Alive Activities!
We would like to thank everyone’s efforts on the day and everyone for coming along despite the rain. We raised £332.85 for BDAA thanks to your generosity.
