Our commitment to the local community

One of the ways we’re proud to be different is our genuine commitment to the local community.  Our aim is to forge relationships which have a long-lasting positive impact on our local area.

We are always keen to support local events and are proud to sponsor and organise events such as the Later Life Summer Fair and ‘Welcome Wednesday’ monthly coffee afternoons (last Wednesday of the month 2 - 3.30pm at the Beehive, Wellington Hill West!) which give people in the community an opportunity to make new social connections and find out what’s happening in the local area.

We’re working hard to establish an in person and also online ‘later life’ community in Bristol through organising organising free events such as Welcome Wednesday and connecting people through our Facebook Group, Later Life in Bristol. Why not join us?

If you would like an activity or group added to the document, please let us know by emailing community@haroldstephens.co.uk.

Charities

Choosing a ‘charity of the year’ has become the norm but we have opted to support four Bristol based charities (see below) on a long-term basis, which will hopefully lead to meaningful partnerships where we can assist not only with financial contributions but also time in areas that are needed most.

We are delighted to be working with Harold Stephens and are very grateful to be chosen as one of their chosen charities... It’s wonderful to see how socially conscious they are. As the only adult Hospice in Bristol we rely on the support of the Bristol community and love making new connections with local businesses and individuals and therefore look forward to seeing how the partnership with Harold Stephens develops.

Community Links

Harold Stephens is the first corporate sponsor of Sustainable Westbury on Trym (SusWoT) and as a team we regularly litter-pick around Westbury on Trym.

We are proud to sponsor Bristol Hub LinkAges, a student-led volunteering programme which connects students with older people to tackle social isolation.

We also organise an annual Later Life Summer Fair in July and would love to hear from you if you would like to be involved. Contact us here.

If there are any organisations which you think we could assist with or share news via our social media accounts, please let us know here. We are always open to collaborating with other organisations that share our passion for community.

Please follow our Twitter account or ‘like’ our Facebook page for updates and news in and around the Bristol area.
