Trump’s Tariffs & Global Trade Wars Cause Market Chaos

Are You Worried About Your Pension or ISA Investments?

In times of market uncertainty such as these, diversification is essential for investors. Our independently recommended portfolios are invested across different geographies, sectors, and asset classes to reduce downside risk and improve returns for our clients. We also recommend using active portfolio management, where our independent portfolio managers can actually take advantage of the volatility – for example recent increased allocations to bonds and gold have proven valuable in managing the current risks, with both asset classes performing well amidst escalating global trade tensions.

Investors should avoid panicked decisions. As we’ve seen previously, Trump has shown a willingness to change his mind at short notice, which could prompt a positive reaction from riskier assets such as shares. We have also seen policy stimulus from the EU and China in recent months, highlighting investment opportunities beyond US equities. Despite current challenges, rising bond prices, lower oil prices, and a weaker dollar could pave the way for a rebound in the equity market once US trade policies stabilise. In his ‘Liberation Day’ speech, Trump suggested that he will pass tax cuts later in the year along with significant deregulation, both of which should benefit the equity market.

In summary, as the world works its way through Trump’s tariffs, our recommended portfolios remain diversified and continue to actively take advantage of the current volatility. We strongly recommend investors avoid knee-jerk reactions.

Are you sitting on the side-lines, watching on in hope rather than expectation?  Does your ISA or pension have a handful of self-picked funds chosen years ago and not looked at since? Did you originally take pension or ISA investment advice but not seen the adviser for a review in quite some time? It might be time now for a second look from a local, independent financial adviser.

If you’re feeling unsure, we’re here to help. We offer complimentary investment portfolio reviews to help you understand your current position, ascertain your attitude to risk and whether any adjustments may be needed to align your goals. We regularly assess investment providers to ensure we remain confident in the independent recommendations we make.
